My approach

Helping you get more in touch with the felt sense of your client work

As your supervisor, I will help you get in touch with your own experience of both your client and supervisory relationships. We'll use Hawkins and Shohet's seven-eyed model to provide a broad and intentional support to your client work

I work with counsellors and psychotherapists from all theoretical backgrounds, and I also welcome spiritual directors, coaches, bodyworkers, and others who work relationally with people.

Whatever your modality, if you're committed to reflective, ethical practice, there's likely a lot we can explore together.

What working with me feels like

Supervision with me is grounded in person-centred, Focusing-oriented philosophy: understanding that meaning emerges from within the process itself, not from frameworks applied to it from outside. In practice, that means I'm less interested in interpreting your work than in helping you slow down and get in touch with your ‘felt sense’; that unclear sense of something you can feel about your client, but you haven’t put into words yet

Central to how I work is a commitment to protecting pacing, autonomy, and dignity: yours as a practitioner, and your clients'. I don't see my role as diagnosing or explaining what's happening in your work, but as creating the conditions where your own understanding can emerge. That includes staying present with disintegration as well as growth; being with the uncertainty and not-knowing, without rushing to restore coherence or tidy things up. New understanding tends to arise from within the process, not from having it explained

We'll attend to all three supervision functions; formative, normative and restorative. So I'll also be honest with you. I won't smooth over something that deserves to be looked at, and I'll encourage you to bring your whole self, including the responses that feel confusing, uncomfortable, or hard to name. Complex relational dynamics like dependency, longing, or the pull to rescue are worth looking at directly not brushed under the rug. I welcome the parts of you feeling depleted or worried and hope you'll feel seen and more settled in yourself through our work together

I hold a wide view of what shapes the people we work with: not just personal history, but the social, cultural, and environmental realities of the world they're living in. Whatever you bring, we'll look at it carefully, and in context

You’re very welcome to get in touch to see about how we might work together
