Often the next step in our lives
begins as a subtle feeling;
something sensed
before it is fully understood

You might be feeling...
People come to counselling for different reasons, including:
-
anxiety or overwhelm
-
depression or low mood
-
trauma or difficult past relationships
-
relationship difficulties
-
feeling stuck or lost in life
-
work stress or burnout
-
low self-esteem or self-criticism
-
facing a life transition or loss
-
neuro-diversity
-
identity questions

It's understandable to want to avoid problems, until they're unbareable.

You might have an unclear sense of 'something' that feels wrong in your life. As we turn toward that together, it can open up, and show you how to move forward.

You don't have to have it all figured out. Therapy can begin simply with whatever you are experiencing now.

How counselling can help
My approach is person-centred and experiential, influenced by Focusing (developed by Eugene Gendlin)
Person-Centred counselling is based on the belief that you know best how to right yourself, and that this will happen naturally when you are supported with a genuine therapy relationship, where you feel understood and accepted unconditionally.
The experiential part of this comes through my Focusing-Oriented approach, which means we'll not only talk about problems, but also listen carefully to what's going on inside you as we talk. We might explore:

-
thoughts and emotions
-
sensations and the 'felt sense' of situations
-
different parts of you that might have very different ideas about what you should do
-
how to soothe and support yourself when things feel difficult
Rather than analysing you or telling you what to do, I help you check in with your ‘felt sense’ of situations so that we can gently listen to your body’s wisdom and let this guide your decisions, so that change happens naturally. Understanding what our body is telling us, can help make sure we are with the thing that really needs our attention. We might incorporate embodied approaches such as;

-
Parts Work
-
Grounding techniques
-
Mindfulness
-
Non-Violent Communication
-
Trauma Informed
You might become more in touch with your own sense of a situation, and more accepting of yourself and your experience, which can help you feel calmer, more self-determined and empowered.
